Integrant is dedicated to providing the best solution possible for your individual needs. Sometimes this means advising clients to implement package software. After all, if we don’t provide you with the right solution, you won’t be happy, and we won’t be satisfied. So here are a couple indicators that can help you determine whether you need custom software or package software.
Are the processes you’re running standard or unique?
This is a basic, but critical question. If you need software to run a process that’s essentially universal for businesses–like accounting, or inventory, for example–package software will probably be your best option. However, if your processes are specific to your company and help support your Unique Value Proposition, custom software is the right choice for you.
Are you building software for processes that are new to your business, or for processes that you’ve already established?
Custom software is really only advantageous when you have a solid idea of what you need it to accomplish. In light of that, your familiarity with your processes will directly affect the benefits you can achieve from a custom solution. If you know your requirements thoroughly, you’ll do well with custom software. However, if you need software for a new business or a new product that you don’t yet know well, package software will better allow you to gain an understanding of your needs.
