Travel

Our teams are experts in overlap, but we also know there’s no real substitute for face-to-face communication. No matter what, we establish an effective plan to make the most of any travel and time onsite. We’re happy to make changes and travel more or less often depending on the project needs.  Here are two sample timelines modeled after travel schedules that were implemented before Covid-19 aimed to maximize team travel to enhance your project and timelines.

Sample Timelines

Travel Early & Often

Your project is complex and massive. There are a lot of players. Maybe the project requirements aren’t completely defined yet. This is when we’ve seen early travel be most successful. Having a TPL onsite at project kick-off can establish trust quickly and set a positive tone for the duration of the project.

Travel Schedule:

  • TPL travels 1-2 weeks at start of the project for kick-off, requirements gathering and definition, knowledge transfer, and team building

  • TPL travels at a regular cadence (we generally recommend once per quarter), coinciding with key milestones or releases during the project lifecycle for 1-4 weeks

  • Depending on size of project and project needs, additional engineers are recommended for travel to enhance project support and bolster relationships and communication

Strategic Travel at Key Project Milestones

Your project is already running and you just need a trusted partner to come in and seamlessly integrate with your team. Our team is exceptional at getting onboarded and productive quickly. Travel makes the greatest impact key project milestones for 2+ weeks depending on complexity and scope.

Travel Schedule:

  • Distributed project kick-off, requirements gathering and definition, knowledge transfer, and team building

  • TPL travels 1-2 weeks leading up to major release or milestone or 1 week before and 1 week after a major release (we recommend

  • Depending on size of project and project needs, additional engineers are recommended for travel to enhance project support and bolster relationships and communication

  • Travel as needed determined by project status and timeline

Why We Travel

You’re in the driver’s seat of the team’s travel interval, but overall, we’ve seen key benefits to travel. We’ve listed a few of them below.

01 Solidified Communication:

Travel allows things that may get lost in the tech translation to come together a little easier. Communication flows more easily and we’re able to make our development team that much more effective.

02 Enhanced Team Dynamics:

It’s easier to put yourself in someone else’s shoes once you’ve seen their day-to-day and really get to experience their environment. Onsite travel is part of our core value to provide the best service we can to build better software with fewer risks.

03 Team Camaraderie and Culture:

We love getting our teams together whether it’s abroad or onsite—usually over a meal. We find breaking bread the ultimate way to get to know each other and build a stronger team culture.

04 Enhanced Business and Domain Knowledge:

Being onsite allows us to get a clearer picture of your needs and requirements. It boosts our ability to provide the best solutions and supply the right skillset and team members to make your project soar.

05 Expedite Progress:

Even with increased remote work due to Covid, sometimes there's no substitute for hashing out a solution in-person or celebrating a major project milestone together.

06 Experience Egypt:

We’ve had several customers visit our development center and see how we work first-hand. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase how we work and what makes us tick.
